Many holiday-themed lights remain up in downtown Mt Pleasant nearly two months after Christmas. Downtown development director Michelle Sponseller said downtown businesses signed an agreement to shut off light curtains by January 15th, and remove them by January 31st. However several businesses have left their displays standing. Some businesses owners cited a positive response from residents as the reason for leaving the lights up. Sponseller suggested those businesses ask for an amendment to the signed agreement.
