Well it’s about that time, the days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer. It’s sunshine, its summertime! Of course summer time also means vacation. Hit the road with me as we take a took some summer travel trends. First of all Summer 2016 is shaping up to be the summer of the road trip.
You know gas has been expensive for years now and because of that road trips have declined somewhat over the years. This year is different; gas is now 46 cents cheaper than at this time last year. Low gas prices and an increase in job creation has given more disposable income to Americans. Now you’ve got more cash in your pocket so what do you do with that? Spend it. Hit the road, visit DC, take that trip out to LA you’ve always wanted to take. If you are more of a fan of our Great Lakes travel around the great state of Michigan, or Canada is close as well.
Speaking of Canada, a visit to our friends to the north makes our list of 2016 summer travel trends. The value of the Canadian dollar is low so things like hotels, restaurants and shopping are cheap. Sounds like Canada is the place to be, eh? For us here in Michigan, Canada is close, and we all know it is a very friendly and welcoming country; they also make pretty good beer. Oh, and don’t forget to make a trip to Belle Isle Park on the way!
From good beer to national parks, the national parks turn 100 years old on August 25th and centennial events will take place throughout the country. Advanced reservations for the parks have reached record numbers for this summer, so you better strike while the ovens hot if you want a spot in the parks. So enjoy the warm weather and the longer days and warm summer nights.
