The Mt Pleasant City Commission voted 4-3 to deny a request to rezone the former SBX building that houses Kaya Coffee House. Local developer Rick McGuirk was in the process of purchasing the property to redevelop it for residential housing. Dozens of residents attended the public hearing to speak against the rezoning proposal.
