Isabella County voters need to decide whether to approve a surcharge of no more than $3 per month on telephones to support 911 operations. County commissioners approved the language and petition for the November ballot. Isabella County Central Dispatch Director Marc Griffis says the department is severely underfunded. Currently, telephone customers pay a $1.50 per device surcharge, with the state adding 19 cents.
