A horse housed in Gratiot County has been euthanized because it contracted West Nile Virus. The 6 year old grade mare horse, contracted the virus & starting showing symptoms, on Sept. 2nd. The virus was transferred to the horse from a mosquito, according to Mich Dept of Health & Human Services. Horse owners should make sure the animals are vaccinated and if any of the symptoms are noticed, contact the animal’s veterinarian.
