CLARE COUNTY (WJRT) – A popular bakery led by former police officers is warning of an internet phishing scam.

The co-owners of Cops and Doughnuts in Clare posted a video to Facebook alerting their customers to be on the lookout for an email that claims to be from Paypal.

It looks like a receipt for bakery goods, but the doughnut shop doesn’t want you to fall for it…

In the video, Ryno and Bubba say, “if you look in the parenthesis it’s a bogus email, so what we want you to do is just delete them. If you could contact us that’d be great, we’re trying to turn it over to the state police or FBI to have them work on it, but right now there are no victims. They’re trying to steal your user name and log in – yup – that’s what it is!”

They go on to say most spam filters will catch it, but some won’t.

The bakery’s online ordering system has not been compromised.
