Demolition Begins for New Isabella County Dollar General

Crews began tearing down the Deerfield Center School building on M-20 at Winn Road to make way for a Dollar General. The old schoolhouse largely sat empty since Martin’s Kountry Korner moved across the street to a bigger building in 2006. The school closed in the 1960s, and the children there were enrolled at Beal City or Mt Pleasant instead.
