Labor unions at Central Michigan University are working to prevent impending layoffs from the university. CMU announced in March that layoffs were imminent with a $20 million deficit. About two dozen employees could lose their jobs. The unions say students will suffer with fewer course offerings as a result of the layoffs. Others have proposed that CMU consider cutting funding from athletics and the College of Medicine rather than layoff employees.
