It was a day later than we wanted, but the Detroit Tigers put on a show for opening day, defeating the White Sox 6-3 Tuesday in Chicago. Justin Verlander looked like the Cy Young candidate he is, surrendering only two runs on six hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings, with ten strikeouts. Rookie JaCoby Jones got the scoring started for the Tigers with his first career home run in the second, while Nicholas Castellanos and Ian Kinsler both added homers for Detroit in the win. Justin Upton left the game with a knee injury, his status is day-to-day at this time.
