A Clare County Jail inmate was found dead on Saturday morning in his cell. The Clare County Undersheriff says 54-year-old John Engel appeared to have committed suicide. He was awaiting transfer to Jackson after he was ordered last week to spend 25 to 50 years in prison for raping a girl under the age of 13. Engel was found guilty on November 29th for raping a child five times between January of 2010 and December of 2011.
