The US Department of Agriculture has designated Gratiot and Clare Counties as primary disaster areas because of crop losses and damages during the 2016 growing season. The counties are among 21 in Michigan with the designation. Isabella County farmers also qualify for natural disaster assistance because the county is contiguous to Gratiot and Clare counties.
