The city of Alma plans to raise overnight parking fees in the downtown area beginning January 1st. The Alma City Commission voted 6-0 on Tuesday in favor of increasing the fee in designated city lots to $160 for the calendar year for nonresidents. That’s up from $125. Downtown district residents see their fees increased to $50 from $25. City Manager Phil Moore says the increases are done to keep up with Alma College parking rates.
