The state of Michigan awarded the Chippewa Nature Center a $24,000 grant to attract turkeys and songbirds along the Chippewa River. The grant is part of nearly $1 million awarded by the Michigan DNR this year for similar projects. The nature center hopes that adding native grasses, native wildflowers and forbs will provide the necessary food to attract the variety of animals.
