An Isabella County magistrate arraigned 19-year-old Mackenzie Thayer of Union Township on Monday. Attorney David Barberi entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Thayer, who is accused of hitting 82-year-old Carolyn Powell early Saturday morning with her car. Thayer faces charges of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and lying to police. Her charges carry up to 12 years in prison.
