Well June is coming to an end and this week end millions of Americans will be celebrating the birthday of the USA, the fourth of July. To celebrate those millions of Americans will travel and according to fortune magazine they will break records. Because gas is cheaper this year than in years past more people are travelling. The cheaper the gas the more money travelers will have to spend on whatever their hearts desire.
Some of the numbers on cheaper gas are amazing; according to AAA lower gas prices have save US drivers 20 billion dollars so far this year! That means more than 36 million people will be driving to celebrate the 4th this weekend. I know I will be. I’ll be visiting my sister in upstate New York. Let’s hope the traffic isn’t too terrible.
When you think of the fourth you think you also think of beer, well I do at least. The money being saved is also going to spent beer; the 4th of July is the biggest beer holiday of the year. According to Fortune in 2014 Americans spent 825.8 million dollars on beer. Well you learn something new every day, I knew people liked beer but wow.
If you are travelling for the holiday expect cheaper gas and more traffic on the roads. Be safe out there with more traffic that means more chances for accidents. AAA says they expect to see more than 370,000 stranded motorists, for dead batteries, lockouts and flat tires. So make sure you don’t run over any nails, always keep your keys in your pockets and make sure you do not run your battery dead. So drive safe out there and you’ll get to enjoy a great weekend to celebrate American with cheaper gas and some cold beer, so Happy Fourth of July everyone
