A very active sunspot situation has hurled some of the sun’s geomagnetic energy toward Earth’s atmosphere. The latest forecasts show a timing of energy that could produce northern lights. The forecasters show two periods with Kp Index values above 5. One period of time when the forecasted Kp Index is high enough at dark to see northern lights as far south as Bay City to Mount Pleasant to Pentwater is tonight from 2 am to 8 am tomorrow morning.
