Leah Remini is suing the Church of Scientology for claims of harassment, stalking and defamation. Remini, who’s an outspoken critic of the Church she left 10 years ago, filed the suit yesterday with the Los Angeles Superior Court. She claims she’s been “stalked, surveilled, harassed, threatened, intimidated, and, moreover, has been the victim of intentional malicious and fraudulent rumors” to intimidate her into staying quiet.

In a statement, Remini alleges she’s being the recipient “psychological torture” for the past 17 years, ever since she started asking where church leader David Miscavige’s wife Shelleywas after going missing. The “King of Queens” actress says the church’s harassment allegedly meant to “totally restrain and muzzle” her through a pattern of defamation, stalking, and abuse, adding that family, friends, business partners, advertisers, potential employers, and staff were also targeted.

Remini is going after unspecified damages and a court order requiring the group and any entity it controls or funds to “cease and desist its harassment, defamation, and other unlawful conduct.”
