The mother of a mixed-race boy with special needs is suing the Mt Pleasant Public Schools for more than $2 million over an incident in which she said district staff violated his education plan by strip-searching him and placing him in seclusion. An attorney representing Cheyenne Johnson filed the suit last week about the incident that occurred on or around Nov 21, 2021 at the middle school. The suit also names, as defendants, (6) employees at the school, including Principal, Darby Weaver.
