Don Everly, who along with his brother Phil made up the legenday rock and roll duo the Everly Brothers, died Saturday at his Nashville home at the age of 84.
“Don lived by what he felt in his heart,” the family said in a statement. “Don expressed his appreciation for the ability to live his dreams … with his soulmate and wife, Adela, and sharing the music that made him an Everly Brother.”
The Everly Brothers had their first big hit in 1957 with “Bye Bye Love,” and followed with such other classics as “Wake Up Little Susie,” “All I Have To Do Is Dream,” “Devoted To You,” “When Will I Be Loved” and more.
The pair was among the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, received a GRAMMY lifetime achievement award in 1997 and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
Phil passed away in 2014.
