The Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post is warning residents of an online dating scam. The perpetrator contacted two victims and sent them fraudulent checks. They then requested money to be sent to a third-party using Bitcoin. One victim sent $3,000 and the other sent more than $9,000. Both investigations originated from a local credit union in Lake City.
