Johnny Depp’s attempts to appeal the ruling in his libel case have been shut down. Yesterday, a British court denied the appeal, saying Depp’s attempt to overturn the decision had “no real prospect of success.” Ouch.
Two Court of Appeals judges said the actor can’t challenge the High Court’s rejection of his libel suit against “The Sun,” saying the hearing was “full and fair” with no “error of approach or mistake of law” in sight. As for Depp’s argument that Heard lied about donating her $7-million divorce settlement, the appeals judges called it “pure speculation” that it could’ve influenced the judge’s final decision.
A rep for Heard has responded to the decision on the appeal, saying she’s “pleased” but “by no means surprised.”
