Alex Trebek’s “Jeopardy” wardrobe is being repurposed in a way that would make the late host happy. Some of his clothes will go to The Doe Fund. It’s a nonprofit that provides housing, vocational training, continuing education, and other services to formerly homeless and incarcerated New Yorkers.
“During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering,” “Jeopardy!” executive producer Mike Richards, said in a statement. “Donating his wardrobe to those who are working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to begin to honor that last request.”
About 14 suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 ties, 25 polo shirts, 14 sweaters, nine sport coats, nine pairs of dress shoes, 15 belts, two parkas, and three pairs of dress slacks will go to Ready, Willing & Able, the Doe Fund’s re-entry program that provides job interview-ready clothing.
- It was a known fact that Alex, who passed away in November from pancreatic cancer – had a heart for the homeless. Back in July, he donated $500-thousand to the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles to help them build a new shelter.
