The inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will finally happen on Wednesday, and the event will be celebrated with a new primetime TV special.
“Celebrating America” will be hosted by Tom Hanks and feature performances by Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons, Demi Lovato, and Jon Bon Jovi.
- Justin shared the news on Instagram, explaining he’ll be performing the song “Better Days,” which he wrote with Ant a few months ago. “This past year brought a lot of frustration, grief, anger — and there were times when it was easy to feel powerless,” he writes. “This song was our way of doing what little we could to encourage everyone to stay hopeful… and keep working towards a better, more equal future.” He adds, “We have a long way to go to fix, undo, and rebuild this country… but I hope now, despite the past four years, we are on our way. #Inauguration2021.”
- Demi also announced the news on Instagram, writing, “I’m SO honored to announce that I will be joining @joebiden & @kamalaharris for their special event, “Celebrating America”…I was left speechless when I was asked to perform!”
The 90-minute “Celebrating America” will kick off at 8:30 pm, and air on several networks including ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and MSNBC, and will also stream YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch and more.
