There won’t be a “virtual” Oscars next year – and it isn’t being called-off, either! The Academy has confirmed that the 2021 kudo-fest is still happening, and that it’ll be live and in-person.
The Oscars had been pushed back a few months due to coronavirus, now set to take place on April 25th, 2021. Insiders say that the Academy is hoping theaters will be open again by that time, making way for more movies to compete. But even if theaters stay closed, organizers are reportedly planning on making sure the event is broadcast live as usual.
So far, socially-distant seating plans for the 3,400-capacity Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles haven’t been revealed. Apparently, the Academy has already done a walkthrough of the Dolby to explore their “multiple options.”
