“Hamilton” might be making history again, years after it first opened in 2015. Broadway’s doors have been shut since March due to coronavirus, and “Hamilton” might be the musical that marks its comeback.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is expecting to reopen theaters in June, at first with a limited capacity. While it’d be a financial risk for most shows to go on for smaller audiences, “Hamilton” is sitting on so much revenue it’s expected to survive a socially-distanced run. According to “Page Six,” producers are planning a big comeback to the Richard Rodgers Theatre on July 4th.
Did you catch that date? Apparently, the “Hamilton” is planning on drawing a parallel between the end of the Broadway shutdown and the signing of the Declaration of Independence – AKA, “freedom!”
