Donnie Wahlberg has hopped on an internet trend to help out service industry workers amid coronavirus. The actor has done his part by joining the “2020 Tip Challenge.”
The rules are simple, leave a tip of $2,020 – as in, the year 2020 – to your server next time you eat at a restaurant. The service industry is only just starting to rev back up after getting hit hard by the pandemic, and the tipping trend that started back in January is an effort to help workers make ends meet.
Wahlberg is among the latest to participate, putting a $2,020 tip on a $35.27 bill at a Marshland restaurant in Massachusetts. The restaurant has taken to Instagram to show off the receipt, which included the #2020tipchallenge hashtag
