Potential raise causes disagreement at Mt Pleasant commission meeting

Giving Mt Pleasant’s City Manager a raise turned into a public disagreement at a recent city commission meeting. Vice Mayor Lori Gillis accused Mayor Will Joseph of going behind the scenes and discussing things with other commissioners then springing it on other commissioners. At issue in the first case was whether City Manager Nancy Ridley should get a 2 percent raise or a $2,200 bonus, which is about the same amount of money as the raise would be.
