I love watching the Detroit Tigers, but baseball on the television hails in comparison to live baseball, there is nothing like it! With high school baseball and softball coming to an end in our area, it is time to look elsewhere to get our local live baseball, and a great place to check out a ball game is at Dow Diamond. Home to the Great Lake Loons; Dow Diamond hosts many events throughout the year, but the mainstay is Loons home games. Just like many other minor league ball parks across the country the Loons always have great things going on to create a fun and exciting atmosphere at the park. Even if you are anti-baseball, a good time awaits at Dow Diamond! I mean just look at that field!
One of the best things about going to ball games is the food, but at times they can be pricey…don’t want to pay five dollars for your hot dog? Well then head to any Loons home game on Thursdays this summer for family feast night! You can get one dollar dogs, pops, and ice cream sandwiches! Friday’s feature live music and drink specials before the game! If you catch a Loons game on a Saturday night your likely to get treated to a great fireworks show afterwards! Check out the Loons schedule to find a good day to go watch some local live baseball!
Don’t want to travel to Midland (it’s not that far), but I understand if you want to catch some local live baseball there are dozens of parks in our area with youngsters leaving it all out on the field. Check out all of the area parks that feature Mount Pleasant Little league baseball here. Of course you have the fields at Island Park which often host softball tourneys all summer, I live right next to Yost Park on Henry Street and can say from experience is a great place to watch a little league game, make sure you have some cash for the ice cream truck that will roll through.
Last but not least,a park you may not be familiar with unless your kid plays there is McDonald Park right off of Pickard Road just past Lincoln Road. Many local Mount Pleasant leagues play their games there, especially for the youngsters. TO check out a schedule of Mount Pleasant little league games check out the Mount Pleasant Little League website. I love the tigers, but you cannot beat live baseball so put down the remote and go root on some local area teams!
