David Letterman is making things right with his former “Late Show” writer Nell Scovell. A decade ago, Scovell called out her boss for sexist behavior in an article for “Vanity Fair.” Now, Letterman and Scovell have finally sat down with each other about the issue for a new article.

After going into more detail about her issues with the longtime late night host, Letterman owns up to his behavior, and opens up about what took so long. Scovell commends his “willingness” to “speak on the record” to “make amends,” saying there’s a need for “more dialogue” to teach men “the difference between criticism and condemnation.”

“I don’t know how [the show] got sidetracked. It just did. God, I’m certain there’d be mistakes, but not the mistakes that were just so gosh-dang obvious,” Letterman says. “[The sex scandal] is not a happy memory. But it’s a memory that changed my life.”
