Last week, the Golden Globes nominations announcement came along with news of a new category, described as the TV equivalent of the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Now it’s been revealed who will be receiving the first-ever lifetime achievement award for television: Carol Burnett.

Not only will the television icon receive the honor, but she’ll also be the namesake of the award, too: the Carol Burnett Award. In a statement, Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Meher Tatna shares the news and pays tribute to Burnett, who was, of course, “the first woman to host a variety sketch show,” “The Carol Burnett Show.”

“For more than 50 years, comedy trailblazer Carol Burnett has been breaking barriers while making us laugh,” the statement reads. “We are profoundly grateful for her contributions to the entertainment industry and honored to celebrate her legacy forever at the Golden Globes.”

The Golden Globes ceremony airs on NBC Sunday, January 6th at 8 pm ET. It’s set to be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg.
