The Great Lakes Loons struggled on the mound, and the South Bend Cubs took advantage, defeating the Loons 8-3 Tuesday night in South Bend. Ina Abdullah lasted only 2 2/3 innings for the Loons, surrendering seven runs, three earned, on six hits. Ivan Vieitez gave the Loons three innings of one-run relief, but the Loons offense never could recover. Ariel Sandoval hit his 5th home run in the 2nd inning, one of the few bright spots of the evening for the Loons.
