Wendy Williams is known for dishing on celebrities. Yesterday, she had some dish of her own. She revealed that she’s been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an immune system disorder of the thyroid.
Apparently the talk show host has battled with a thyroid condition for years. Lately, though, it’s been acting “totally cattywampus.” But she thought it was a combination of menopause and the stress of helping her son, Kevin, apply to college. Finally, the symptoms became too severe to ignore. “Graves disease squeezes the muscles behind your eyeballs,” Wendy explained.
Williams’ doctor has ordered her to take a three-week break to focus on her health. However, she doesn’t want to do it. She said, “I’ll be back in two. I’m not an heiress. Who’s gonna pay my bills?” In the meantime, reruns will air in her timeslot.
