A proposal to lift Flint’s prohibition on backyard fires hasn’t been extinguished but members of the City Council don’t appear to have a burning desire to make the change supported by Fire Chief Theron Wiggins. Support for an ordinance change that would allow for burning in fire pits fueled by seasoned dry wood, propane or natural gas has been stuck in a council committee for two months since it was introduced and council members voted last week to leave it there for further consideration.
