After a year of repairs and reinspection, Belle Isle’s Giant Slide is scheduled to reopen to visitors Friday with free rides. The slide was closed for two years from 2020-2022 and initially opened its season in August 2022, but quickly closed after videos captured people bouncing down the slide as they caught speed. People were riding down too fast, prompting the DNR to release a video instructing people how to slide down. The giant slide was only open for one week last summer in late August.
