A Midland County resident recently spotted a black bear being chased by two dogs into a yard in Homer Township, just west of Midland… she also got a video! The video of the incident was posted on Wednesday to the “AskMidland” Facebook group to warn residents of the bear after she saw it on South Homer Road and M-20. She actually saw the bear last month but just posted the video this week, since some commenters in the group didn’t believe it! This time of year each spring, bears are leaving their dens and will be searching for food sources to replenish their bodies after eating little since last fall, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. To prevent problem bear behavior this spring, DNR officials recommend people consider removing bird feeders and other potential food sources from yards.
