- Ryan Seacrest has confirmed he’s going to replace Pat Sajak as the host of “Wheel Of Fortune”
- Sajak announced his retirement after the show’s upcoming 41st season
- Seacrest won the job over longtime co-host Vanna White and Whoopi Goldberg, who reported her interest on “The View”
Sajak announced his upcoming departure earlier this month after the game show’s 41st season. “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” wrote Seacrest. “Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease. I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”
While long-running co-host Vanna White was reportedly in the running- and even “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg threw her name in- Seacrest was rumored to be the frontrunner from the get-go. Seacrest only recently left “Live With Kelly And Ryan” and has numerous business ventures going, such as the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.
The “American Idol” host is coming full circle by landing the gig. In his announcement he shared, “One of my first jobs was hosting a little game show called ‘Click’ for Merv Griffin 25 years ago so this is truly a full circle moment for me and I’m grateful to Sony for the opportunity.”
