- Jury selection is underway in Chicago as R Kelly faces another trial.
- As we told you yesterday, the singer, who’s already been convicted of sex crimes in New York, faces similar charges in Illinois.
- In court yesterday, the federal judge presiding over the trial ruled that jurors would not be automatically disqualified if they’d seen the 2019 docuseries, “Surviving R Kelly.”
- An attorney for Kelly argued unsuccessfully that anyone who has seen the six-part Lifetime documentary could not be impartial, calling it “inflammatory.”
- In denying the request, the judge said that the series aired years ago and that it wouldn’t make sense to prohibit someone from serving if they’d seen only part of it.
