Nickelback is being taken to court over the 2005 hit “Rockstar”. Kirk Johnston has sued the band with Roadrunner Records, Warner Chappell Music Inc and Live Nation for copyright infringement over the song. Johnston accuses the band of ripping off his own song “Rock Star,” which he wrote in 2001. He says his band made 15 copies of the master. Sending the song over to several record labels, including Roadrunner and Warner Chappell. Johnston claims the labels gave the song to Nickelback, who copied his band’s original piece.
