French EDM duo Daft Punk has called it quits. The pair, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, announced the news with an eight-minute video, titled “Epilogue,” which features the helmeted pair walking through a desert.
The clip, which features footage from their 2006 movie “Electoma,” ends with one of them taking off his black jacket to reveal a control panel on his back, and the other flipping the switch, walking away, and then turning back to watch the other one explode.
A message at the end features one silver and one gold hand in the shape of a triangle with the years 1993-2021. The French duo’s publicist later confirmed the video was their way of annoucing heir breakup.
- Daft Punk is known for such songs as “Da Funk,” “One More Time,” and “Get Lucky,” featuring Pharrell. They released their last album “Random Access Memories,” in 2013, which featured collaborations with Chic’s Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Pharrell and more.
