James Van Der Beek is mourning the death of his mother, Melinda Van Der Beek. In his Insta-tribute, he said that the 70-year-old has passed last week. While he didn’t state the cause of death, his post indicated that the former gym teacher and ballerina had suffered for a while. “Even though we knew this was coming — and had actually thought we were at the end nearly a year and a half ago — I’m still in shock,” James noted. “I’m grateful she’s no longer in pain, I’m sad, I’m angry, I’m relieved … all at once and in different moments. Just trying to hold space and allow for it all.” Melinda is survived by her husband and three kids.
