Max von Sydow, best known for his roles in “The Exorcist” and “Game Of Thrones,” has died at 90. The actor died in France on Sunday, confirmed by his agent Jean Diamond yesterday.
The actor, born Carl Adolf von Sydow, has had many memorable roles since he started acting at age 20. He made his debut in the Swedish movie “Only A Mother” in 1949, going on to play Jesus Christ for his Hollywood debut in “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Von Sydow became a household name after playing Father Lankester Merrin in 1973’s “The Exorcist,” and most recently as the Three-Eyed Raven in HBO’s “Game Of Thrones.”
Von Sydow is survived by his widow, French filmmaker Catherine von Sydow, their two kids Yvan and Cedric, and his sons Clas and Henrik from his previous marriage to Swedish actress Christina Olin. Check out audio to the right.
