Fans didn’t stop flocking to theaters for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” after Christmas. The sci-fi flick kept up its streak and kept the top spot of the box office this weekend, making another $72-million. Not that “Jumanji: The Next Level” isn’t putting up a good fight, nabbing second place for its third week in theaters with another $35-million.
“Little Women” had a good debut, making just over $16-point-five-million this weekend and just barely beating “Frozen II” for the third spot. Speaking of the animated sequel, “Frozen II” is still going strong in the better half of the top 10 after six weeks in theaters. The same goes for “Knives Out,” sitting in the sixth spot after five weeks.
“Cats” still isn’t having a good time in theaters. After two weeks, it’s managed to stay in the top 10… but it’s on its way out, currently sitting in the eighth spot. “Deadline” reports that the movie stands to lose at least $71-milllion due to its high budget and bleak response. Regardless, the movie is one of the biggest box office flops of 2019.
