Walter Downing from Detroit pleaded no contest to charges of assaulting corrections officers in Clare County. The Clare County Prosecutor said he was in jail awaiting his trial for open murder when he assaulted several corrections officers in Sep. 2018. In January, Downing was sentenced to 19 to 40 years in prison for stabbing another man to death in Clare County.
