Mt Pleasant City Commissioners are gearing up to balance the city budget by 2020. The $13.8 million general fund budget is expected to be approved. This is the first time since 2009 that the budget has been balanced without substantially dipping into the unassigned reserve fund. One of the ways the city is saving money is to no longer have the white lights on trees in the downtown lit all year.
