Matthew McConaughey has shown his gratitude for the Los Angeles first responders battling the ongoing California wildfires. On Friday, the actor teamed up with the disaster relief organization Operation BBQ Relief to serve up hot meals for firefighters.
Originally, McConaughey was teaming up with the organization to host an event recognizing the brave souls who fought last year’s devastating Woolsey Fire in honor of National First Responders’ Day. Little did they know that when the time came, the state would have been hit with another blaze – so, they tweaked their plans and ended up preparing 800 hot meals for 20 firehouses, plus another 800 dinners for local homeless shelters.
“Teaming up with Operation BBQ Relief as part of the Wild Turkey ‘With Thanks’ has never been more meaningful,” McConaughey says in a statement. “We are grateful to be here today to say thank you, shine a light on their unwavering conviction, and hopefully inspire others to get involved and help in their own communities.”
