Dave Chappelle is many things to many people – hilarious, controversial, and firebrand social commentator being among the designations. But now, he’s officially an icon – and he joins an incredible star-studded list of those who’ve won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
Speaking with reverence about the Prize as well as the “art form” of stand-up comedy, Chappelle admitted he couldn’t believe he was now on a list that includes a number of his heroes. “To be on a list with Richard Pryor is just unfathomable to me,” Chappelle noted. “The shoulders that I stand on are all here on this list.” The ceremony is set to air on PBS January 7th.
