We told you that Jay-Z has signed a deal with the NFL to work with them on their entertainment and activism endeavors. Video of him and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell surfaced, and he was defending taking the deal.

When asked why he’d partner with the NFL when Colin Kaepernick was still jobless, Jay said that the kneeling protest that the former 49-er started was to bring attention to police brutality. At this point, Colin’s job status isn’t the issue. “There’s two parts of protesting,” he noted. “You go outside and you protest, and then the company or individual say, ‘I hear you.’” He feels like this is the next step in the struggle.

Some of Colin’s supporters aren’t buying Jay’s explanation. His girlfriend, Nessa, went off on Beyoncé’s husband in an IG post. She said, “It’s typical for the NFL to buy different PR looks to cover up their dirt-that’s nothing new,” she said. “But what is disgusting and disappointing is Jay-Z let them use him. Whether Jay-Z knew it or not (I don’t doubt his intelligence-so I would think he knew) he helped the NFL bury who he said is an iconic figure. “
