- Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli are among 50 defendants in the “Varsity Blues,” college admissions scandal
- While co-defendant Felicity Huffman threw herself on a sword, pleading guilty and publicly apologizing, Loughlin has been silent.
- New court documents confirm that Loughlin and Giannulli are taking the risky position of fighting the charges against them.
The wait is over: Lori Loughlin [[LOCK-lin]] and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are going to fight. As we told you before, the fact that ‘Aunt Becky’ didn’t join Felicity Huffman and the other defendants in admitting guilt in the “Varsity Blues’ college admissions scam as not gone unnoticed.
According to documents filed in Boston federal court, Loughlin and Giannulli are going with “not guilty” on charges of federal fraud and money laundering. They’re also waiving their right to appear in federal court for an arraignment. Loughlin and her fashion designer husband are accused of paying 500-grand in bribes to get her kids into USC and they face hefty fines and prison time.
Nearly a week ago, fellow actress Huffman, 13 other parents and one college coach, agreed to plead guilty to charges including “using bribery and other forms of fraud.” Conventional wisdom is that Huffman will see about six months behind bars – while Loughlin faces 40 years. Initial word was that Loughlin thought prosecutors were bluffing about the potential jail time – more recently, it’s been said that she genuinely didn’t see her alleged actions as against the law.
