Jon Stewart isn’t done fighting for the Victim Compensation Fund. He returned to Washington DC again with 9/11 first responders on Monday to urge Congress to make the program permanent.
The former “Daily Show” host made all the rounds, appearing on Fox News, MSNBC and CNN, and spoke at a press conference to make his plea to journalists to “amplify” the stories of the victims. He called the ongoing fight (18 years and counting) “nonsense,” saying that passing the bill comes down to “12 Republicans on the Senate side, that’s all.”
Stewart also caught people’s attention by declaring that “The TrumpJustice Department is doing an excellent job administering this program.” “I’m not going to comment on anything else, but that’s why we’re in the problem we’re in is the program works exactly like it’s supposed to,” he added. “Now it’s Congress’ job to fund it properly and let these people live in peace.”
