Last night was the semi-finals of Fox’s hit celebrity competition show, “The Masked Singer.” Once again, it was up to the audience and panel of all-star judges – Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger and guest judge Kenan Thompson – to guess the true identities of the celebs in disguise.
We got to see new performances from the remaining five stars: Bee, Rabbit, Lion, Peacock and Monster. And this time, it wasn’t just one of them who had to reveal their identity… there was a double unmasking! Here’s what happened:
- The Peacock sang first, getting everyone on their feet with “Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo. He gave judges plenty of clues – especially because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut after the performance! He referred to his “partner” at home, says he’s “dedicated my life to show business,” and revealed that he and Nicole definitely “know each other” like she was thinking they do. That had Nicole positive he’s Neil Patrick Harris, but Jenny stuck with Donny Osmond. Clue Review: Male, good performer, has performed in Vegas, started at a young age, close with Michael Jackson, fear of heights, his face is tattooed on someone else’s body, knows Nicole Scherzinger, has dedicated his life to show business.
- The Monster was up next, delivering a beautiful rendition of “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith. He told the judges that he’s a “father, husband, son and brother” and has been “vilified and persecuted for sounding like a ringtone,” just another reason to think he could be T-Pain. But the judges had some more ideas – Ken guessed Jamie Foxx, Robin was thinking Darius Rucker, and Kenan threw in Cee Lo Green. Clue Review: Male, has had dark times, vilified for “sounding like a ringtone,” strong voice but not known as a singer “to everyone,” connection to a headset.
- The Lion hit the stage next, impressing once again with her voice with “Don’t Worry About A Thing” by Stevie Wonder. She dished out all kinds of clues, like that she has really famous parents, and that she’s “an advocate, not a victim,” although she’s been bullied. Kenan guessed Kelly Rowland, and Robin threw in another Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams. Clue Review: Female, great singer, “Hollywood royalty,” has really famous parents, has been bullied, a scrunchie is her family heirloom, love “The Wizard Of Oz,” has a subscription to a monthly murder mystery game.
- The Rabbit was next, with a sweet performance of “My Girl” by The Temptations. He told the judges that he loves camping, and that he’s “done some solo work in a costume before,” though not related to singing. Jenny was starting to think it could be her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, and Kenan threw Nick Lachey into the pool for the first time. Nicole is stuck on the Rabbit being Joey Fatone… smart. Clue Review:Male, great singing voice, versatility, has spent most of his life on stage but not solo, can work some choreography, maybe a pop singer, has worn a mask before, has 17 tattoos.
- Finally, the Bee hit the stage, bringing down the house with a powerful rendition of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin. She acknowledged rumors that she could be Gladys Knight, noting that there’s been some “mixed messages.” She made more references to peaches and said that Aretha is her friend. Nicole guessed Patti LaBelle, but Kenan was still positive that she’s Gladys Knight. Clue Review: Female, great voice, got her start in the 1950s, was inspired by her mom to start a group, relation to peaches and baking, may have been involved in a legal battle at some point, friends with Aretha Franklin.
In the end, there were two unmasking. The Lion was up first, and turned out to be… Rumer Willis! And the Rabbit? Joey Fatone!
That means that the three disguised celebs battling it out in the finals are: the Bee, Monster, and Peacock. Who do you think they are?
